Our story
A return to essential dining. No loud music, no rushed turns—just fire, seasonal ingredients, and quiet hospitality in Banani.
Gray Retu opened in 2022 around a single conviction: dining out should be restful. In a city of frantic paces and overcrowded dining halls, we created an intentional sanctuary where dinner moves quietly.
The name itself is a subtle nod to “grey return”—a return to foundational culinary truths, to silver service without corporate pretense, and to food prepared with patient hands.
Nothing on our plate appears by chance. We keep the selections brief, allowing our cooks to master every texture, sauce reduction, and searing degree on the wood-fire station.
“Good food demands time, good company demands room, and a respectable restaurant never makes you check your watch.”
What we stand for
Local First & Season Driven
Herbs from Savar, root vegetables from Manikganj, and daily catches from coastal landing points. We visit our partner growers directly, revising plates whenever the market soil changes.
Small Batches, Zero Holding
Every mother broth, pepper demi-glace, and cultured butter is initiated fresh at daybreak. We do not store pre-cooked portions overnight—what we cook today concludes tonight.
The Unhurried Table Policy
When you take a seat at Gray Retu, that space is yours for the complete evening. We refuse secondary table turns to ensure no guest ever feels nudged or rushed through dessert.
